- 6 ECTS will be awarded for successful completion of the programme.
- The participation fee of 250€ includes course materials, a welcome and closing dinner, and a study trip through the UNESCO
World Heritage region Wachau.

Climate Change and Cultural Landscapes
Preventive conservation of natural and cultural resources along the river Danube Natural and man-made disasters pose a huge threat to our common natural and cultural heritage. Climate change is among these disasters and severely threatens the future wellbeing of our heritage assets. With each incident their cultural significance, historic, physical and artistic value is diminished to some degree or other. Such events also threaten the safety of occupants and users, and, inevitably, directly and adversely affect the livelihood of local communities. The joint Summer University Cultural Property Protection and the International Summer School ENVIMAT will contribute to the future wellbeing of our natural and cultural heritage by enabling the participants to rise to the challenges posed by climate change, to develop and adopt mitigation strategies and plans for the protection of our heritage assets.The one-week programme is based on state of the art research and EU funded projects on climate change and risk assessment for natural and cultural heritage. It aims at scientists, architects, engineers, archaeologists, site curators, cultural heritage managers, conservators, restorers, policy and decision makers, military personnel, graduate students, and post-doctoral fellows alike.
The faculty includes international experts on climate change, UNESCO World Heritage matters, terrace landscapes, flood modelling, and emergency planning for cultural heritage.

Thursday July 11 and Friday July 12, 2019
Syndicate working groups will separately tackle issues related to climate change and the sustainable protection of natural and cultural resources.
- Syndicate working group #1: Emergency plans for cultural heritage
- Syndicate working group #2: Climate change impact on cultural heritage
A live exercise together with first responders for the recovery of cultural heritage will put the developments of the syndicate working groups to a final test.
Saturday July 13, 2019
An after action review and the final presentation of the programme’s development to the regional and local stakeholders, the emergency first responders and the interested public will top off the week.

Erstmalig veranstaltet die Kulturdirektion OÖ für die Mitarbeiterinnen und Mitarbeiter der sammlungsführenden Einrichtungen des Landes OÖ am 23. 10. 2012 ein Sicherheitssymposium. Mit der Organisation und Durchführung wurde die Public Opinion GmbH in Linz beauftragt. Programmhinweise finden Sie hier.
Am 18. und 19. 10. 2012 fand das alljährliche Fortbildungsseminar für den militärischen Kulturgüterschutz an der Landesverteidigungsakademie in Wien statt. Rund 20 Personen – u.a. von der Universität Amsterdam, der Donau-Universität Krems, dem Bundesdenkmalamt, der US-Army sowie Milizoffiziere des österreichischen Bundesheeres – nahmen daran teil. Nach einer Einführung in den Themenbereich „Archäologisches Kulturgut“ von Mag. Eitler ging es nach Carnuntum zur Besichtigung der Amphitheater, der Zivilstadt und des Legionslagers sowie des archäologischen Parks. In weiterer Folge wurde zeithistorisches archäologisches Kulturgut in Göttlesbrunn besichtigt. Am Freitag folgten Vorträge von Dr. Kila (Universität Amsterdam) zum Thema „Archäologie im Einsatz/Erfahrungen aus dem Irak/Ägypten und Libyen“, Dr. Fleck „Zerstörung von Kulturgut als Element der psychologischen Kriegsführung“ sowie Mag. Thalhammer „Realität und Mythos – Monte Cassino“.
